October is a busy month for Black Hawk Lodge. There are a total of four service opportunities for Arrowmen in October. Below you will find the service/events and a brief description of what they are and what the Lodge will be doing.
October 9th: Camp Service Day @Camp Eastman
On October 9th the Lodge Executive meeting will be having a meetings and would like the invite all other arrowmen to come out and see what the LEC is like in action and give back the council by completing some service around camp.
October 15-17th: Section Conclave @Camp Illinek
On the weekend of October 15-17 the Lodge will be sending a contingent to Section C-3B's section conclave at Camp Illinek in Springfield, Illinois. This year there will be a theme of The Brotherhood Court (Pirates of the Caribbean). There are tons of fun activities planned this year and you can find more information here.
October 16th: Merit Badge Make-up Day @ Saukenauk Scout Reservation
On October 16th Mississippi Valley Council will be having a merit badge make-up day for any incomplete merit badges from summer camp. The event will run from 9 am to 12 pm. The council is looking for Adults who are already merit badge councilors and Adults who would like to become merit badge councilors to help with this event. As the Order of the Arrow we should do our part to help promote this event. See here for more information.
October 16th: Spook-O-Ree @Saukenauk Scout Reservation
If you will not be attending Section Conclave make your way out to the councils local camp and give back to SSR and Mississippi Valley Council by providing service for the Spook-o-ree on October 16th at SSR. This event will run from 1 pm to 7 pm. It has been asked for Arrowmen to arrive in the morning to help with decorations. During the event, the Lodge will run a time for branding, assist with food preparation and distribution, and anything else that help may be needed with.
October 23rd: Spook-O-Ree @Camp Eastman
This event will take place on October 23 at Camp Eastman. It will run from 1 pm to 7 pm. It has been asked that arrowmen arrive in the morning to assist with decorations. During the event the Lodge will run a time for branding, assist with food preparation and distribution, and anything else that help may be needed with.
